Now I don’t know if it’s because of a lifelong addiction to being a younger brother, dominated in all things, or a slightly clueless son, directed in all things or even a really needy friend, following in all things, or an internet addict, clicking on all things, but I like having options given to me as a top down smorgasbord from which I can choose my favourite. I like to feel like a powerful Godlike beard wearing cloud surfer who says in booming voices “YES” and “NO” and “PERHAPS, I SHALL HAVE TO SEE WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO DO AROUND THEN BUT I WILL TOTALLY GIVE YOU A CALL WHEN I KNOW”.
The problem is sadly I’m not very good at sourcing my options. I don’t want to spend the time doing anything other than choosing options. I realise that this is a ridiculous statement, but if your dreams are ridicule free than you might as well start dreaming about paperclips. And before you say it, it isn’t a laziness issue. The truth is I can’t source options for the same reason that when a small dog sees a big dog it’s tail goes automatically between it’s legs and a little bit of shame pee drops onto the dry, judgemental pavement. I find the process of trying to source plans to be scary and uncomfortable. Quite past the impact it has on my wider life, it’s a genuine problem that has had me sitting alone on my couch cursing the universe more than I’m comfortable admitting to. I love what it’s trying to do for people like me who are Decisionally Challenged. Those of us who cursed, that are ODD*. I love sites that recognise that the world is fucking huge and crazy and hard to interface with due to crappy UX design and a total lack of tooltips.
